Winter Storm at Sea

Sharon spent part of the afternoon serving as the Art Docent for Jack's first grade class. The lesson discussed how artists use cool colors and perspective in their artwork to depict storms at sea.

The class learned about four artists and their paintings: Gustave Courbet and Cliffs of Etretat After Storm; Winslow Homer and The Fog Warning [first picture shown below]; Marsden Hartley and Fox Island, and; Eugene Delocroix and Frightened Horse [second picture shown below].

For their art project, the kids used watercolors, cotton, and sponge pieces, to create a storm at sea.
