This landmark is located on the campus of California State University at 6000 "J" Street, Sacramento, California. From "J" street, go South on State University Drive East to the Guy West Bridge over-crossing and plaza. The plaque located in plaza. Departing at 2:45 a.m. from the Alta Telegraph Co. in Sacramento, Pony Rider Sam (Bill) Hamilton carried the first mail eastward of the Central Overland Pony Express on April 4, 1860. Here, quickly changing poines he sped on to the next stop at fifteen mile station.
