2006 Kings versus Utah plus

After RCIA, Jack and I dashed to an odd 12:30 p.m. start for the Sacramento Kings versus Utah Jazz Basketball game. The Kings pulled away in the fourth quarter to win by a score of 96 to 78.

The Kings have 3 wins and 5 losses in games that I have seen this season. This is the first time I have seen them win at home in person since November 25, 2005.

This was the first game that I have seen Artest play in person. During the first half, I focused on watching Artest cover Utah Forward Andrei Kirilenko on defense. Kirilenko had 1 point at half-time. Even with a sore hip, Artest was all over Kirilenko. Kirilenko had 11 points in the second half, mostly while he was being covered by other Kings.

This is a much different Kings team than the past couple of years, particularly without Brad Miller playing. The Kings only had 3 assists in the first half. Rather than the passing and cutting team of the past few years, there was a lot of one on one basketball with players creating their own shots.

After the basketball game was over, we rushed home to catch the beginning of the Superbowl.
