Jack London State Park plus...

Up early, we headed to Jack London State Park near Glen Ellen. We hiked the lower part of the park, exploring the museum at the House of Happy Walls, London's gravesite and the Wolf House. We then headed up to the lake and had lunch in the picnic area near the Bathhouse and the dam. Heading back to the truck, we wandered through the silos, the smokehouse, the pig palace, the winery ruins, the distillery building, the cottage, the stallion barn, the manure pit and the sherry barn. We covered about 5 miles. It was an interesting hike that included sections in the forest and along some vineyards and some views of the Valley of the Moon. I will organize and post some pictures and maps over the next couple of days.

Back at the car, we headed to the Kunde Estate Winery for a little wine tasting. Sharon and I tried to stop at this winery once before. From there, we went to Imagery Estate Winery and art gallery.

The next stop was unusual. We went to the Cornerstone Gardens. The Cornerstone Festival of Gardens is an ever-changing series of walk-through gardens, showcasing new and innovative designs from the world’s finest landscape architects and designers. Jack had a great time exploring the exhibits.

We ended the day having dinner at the Deuce Restaurant in Sonoma. Sharon had quail, while I had lamb shank. The food was fine, but not great. Sharon remarked on the ride home that she is raising her standards; she gave the food a 5 on a scale of 10.
